Makhanas are rich in calcium. It also contains starch and protein which is excellent for diabetes. Nuts give a good amount of fiber as well as it contains good fats which are beneficial for your heart. Milk is the best dietary sources of calcium. Calcium has many functions in the body but its primary job is the development and maintenance of healthy bones and teeth. Milk also provides choline, potassium, magnesium, phosphorus, vitamins A, riboflavin, vitamin B-6, and vitamin B.

INGREDIENTS:
  • Milk - 125 ml 
  • Phool makhana (lotus seeds) - 10 g
  • Sugar - 1 tsp 
  • Almonds - 1 tsp
  • Pistachio - 1 tsp
  • Cardamom powder - ½ tsp 
  • Saffron/ kesar - a pinch
DIRECTIONS:
Step 1 Heat a pan and dry roast makhanas on a low flame till they become crisp. Let them coul down completely.  Step 2 Coarsely grind the makhana and make a coarse powder. Coarsely grind or crush the almonds and pistachios.  Step 3 Boil milk in a heavy bottom pan for 5 minutes.  Step 4 Add grounded Phoul makhana and nuts in the milk and cook on low flame for approx. 15 minutes.  Step 5 Add sugar and cook for 10 minutes, keep stirring in-between.  Step 6 Add cardamom powder and saffron.  Step 7 Serve hot or culd.
