Desserts are undeniably essential. This one particular dish is prepared such that it serves the goodness of a tempting dessert and the nutrition very much required for our body. So here we present a fruity twist to our regular custard. Bananas are energy dense and rich in potassium, and calcium and can keep you full for longer, while strawberries are packed with antioxidants & vitamin C, both of which give the custard a colorful look with a healthy blend of nutrients.

INGREDIENTS:
For the strawberry stew:
  • Strawberries [sliced] - 1 cup
  • Sugar - ½ tsp
  • Lemon juice - ½ tsp
For the banana custard:
  • Banana [sliced] - 1 small
  • Skimmed milk - 1 cup [100 ml]
  • Custard powder - 1 tbsp
  • Sugar - ½ tsp
  • Vanilla essence - ½ tsp
DIRECTIONS:
Step 1 Mix all the ingredients with 1 cup of water in a vessel and cook till all the moisture evaporates and the strawberries become soft. Step 2 Remove from the flame, divide into equal portions and keep aside. For the Banana Custard: Step 3 Mix the custard powder in ¼ cup milk and keep aside. Heat the remaining milk with the sugar and mix well. Step 4 Add the custard powder mixture and vanilla essence and cook over a low flame, stirring continuously till the mixture coats the back of the spoon. Divide it into equal portions and refrigerate.   Step 5 Add the bananas and mix well. Keep aside. Step 6 Place a serving of hot strawberry stew in a dessert bowl and pour a portion of chilled custard over it. Serve immediately.
